Basil Essential Oil makes a great companion in the garden!

doTERRA essential oils make a great substitute for companion planting. The results are amazing and so easy.  For example, basil is a great companion plant for asparagus, beans, beets, cabbage, bell peppers, eggplant, marigolds, oregano, potatoes and tomatoes. Growing basil next to tomatoes will make the crop taste even better.  Planting basil next to these plants will deter insects.

When you can't companion plant, basil essential oil is an amazing substitute.  There's a few ways to use basil essential oil.

1. Add a few drops to your watering can and pour onto the root system.

2. Add 2-3 drops in a 16 oz spray bottle and spray the foliage in the evening once the sun is setting.

Do not spray essential oils onto plants in the heat of the day because it can wilt the leaves.  Spraying them in the evening or on an overcast morning works great.

Basil essential oil can be a powerful tool for your garden.
